Second half of the SHS long weekend.

Ted's off to work early, I putt about and then Soo and Baru call, they have an unusual bloom and a spectacular orchid for me to shoot. Oops I forgot about The Gilly stop for prints, will do that on the way. Ted's back as I leave. The sun is not great for shooting so Gerry and I talk camera stuff and have a few beers waiting for it to improve. It does and I shoot a few.

Not really happy with them, I guess every day is shooting day, but not everyday do you get a kill. (??) Ted joins us and we have a few beers while chatting. Nice visit! Ted dashes home for a nap but I pop next door for a quick visit with John and Che. She also has an orchid. Home for a nap. I'm not up for the anniversary party so Ted goes it solo. I watch Insidious, a load of crock....need a GOOD horror movie. Then bed early. I'm still awake when Ted gets in. He's got another early morning. Monday is truly....uneventful!

Saturday - 7th April

After a totally bummed out yesterday, looking forward to a better today. IF posted "VOCAL" as the keyword yesterday and I have tossed it around in my head. In the morning I do a quick rendering of a Rasta singing...i don't know yet ...a Bob Marley song I guess. Send it out to the clan and get back resounding negative responses. "he looks too ugly" he looks like a monkey" "what is this? planet of the apes?" Oh Oh , back to the "drawing board" or iPad as it happens. I had decided to do this illo on the iPad and brush up on those skills. Ted and I hit town to get a gift for Rusty and Juliet's anniversary party tomorrow night at Jolly Harbour.  We grab lunch at Pizzas in town.

We don't see anything we like for them and decide to go in the neighbourhood and get some prints from Gilly.
Get home and decide to nap. I get an email from Mags...banana banana banana...."Your apology is accepted today as I was in no mood for acceptance yesterday." How gracious.
I lay in bed instead and clean up my Rasta...he turns into a girl!!! which i post.

<----------That's my Rasta Reject!!!!
so this is my second posting to IF _ Vocal (click that line to view!)

Ted and I figure Putter's for dinner. Let's call Mags...NOT!
Think we deserve a break from each other. needs to be an early night as teddy is working in the morning.
Hmmm.. nice evening, back home ealry enough and it's a relaxing time.
Watch The Lost Room episode 1 on my newly loaded free trial Netflicks on the iPad hooked up to TV. The picture quality isn't great, I think we need to up our bandwidths. Next day off Teddy will look into it.

Half way through the human sacrifice weekend...BOO!

Sacred Human Sacrifice Long Weekend

Thursday 5th April through Monday 9th April
Sorry about the title, but this basic premise of the Christian faith leaves me plenty COLD! the idea that this "benelovent, loving, compassionate...whatever whatever" god could sacrifice someone ( a complete innocent) to redeem others is TOTALLY beyond me. Thursday - I decide to have an impromptu gathering at the house for early drinks and some sop up chili. last minute invites, this is for an early 6:15pm come over and hopefully an early, (so we can enjoy the next day off) departure. Ted is off the Thursday and Friday. I scramble around but am ready in time with Chili and Garlic bread ready, bar set up. sue and Gerry are on time-ish then Mags gets here. she joins me in a Presecco drink up, I have two bottles. The Delisles are late....after 7 and Janet is much much later with Tom.

Peter Rippon drops in with a bottle of rum and two T-shirts to thank Ted for giving blood to John for his transfusion. Ted's A neg blood is scarcer than most. he joins in for a few drinks.  Deadly mistake...I do not eat. the chili is a hit and a great time is had by all...
until........
Sue and Gerry depart, Janet drops Tom home and returns...it's just this group for a while until Paul and Anne-Marie leave.
I eventually realize it's "late" nearly one and say so..."this was supposed to be an early night"  Who tell me to say that!?!? Mags throws a hissy and storms off. I go to bed. Ted and Janet have roadies and I am asleep by the time he comes to bed.
These volatile family situs are quite tiresome. is family all it's crackd up to be?? mine is scattered . the boys in the UK, the girls on the rock. I get to thinking it's a load of crock really. The idea is that this is the group of people who probably due to proximity and like conditions are most like you in history and up bringing.  In our case for me especially, nothing could be further from the truth. with an eight year gap between me and my nearest sibling and a world apart in parental experiences and upbringing, I do try and I even say things (see a few posts back)...but really upon further examination, it's a bit of a farce really.  At 51, I'm over suffering from LSS (little sister syndrome) and accepting any treatment and behaviour from my older sister. She emailed me as soon as she got home: it took her until that night to discover that I'm "a right rude bitch".with a "fucking problem" WOW really.??!! However, booze sometimes sits uneasy on the Pooran heads. At least I admit it. I spend the next (wasted) day  , feeling like a swamp creature...apologizing without success. I knew it should have been an EARLY night. Ted drags himself around as well all day!.

Wednesday, 4th April

amazing local wild flowers, on our long ago drive to Body Pond.

Although there is a BOD meeting tomorrow, work seems somehow tranquil. the approach of the Easter weekend has the Property Management and IT depts. hopping though. I share then office with Patrice the head and only member of the IT dept. he's a super nice and cute Frenchman married to Nikki and they have two beautiful small girls. must be about 38 / 39. my work colleague Donna has had a suspicious finding on her mammogram and has flown out last night back to the UK.  In March I decided having been 50 for almost a year, I had better bring all my health checks up to date. so all the blood work, pappy, etc...and my first colonoscopy. other than some tiny circular irritated spot lower down , biopsied and fine, i have a very handsome colon. that was no where close to the horror stories some people had regaled me with. Very uneventful procedure. except the receptionist had written the wrong date on my card and after all the prepping she told me I was there on the WRONG morning, and that I should come back next week.  Now , here's a GOOD banana; i told then doc. Jason, no way Jose and within 2 hours he had rounded up a "sleep doctor" and a nurse, rearranged his appointments and we did the procedure. [minus 8 banana] i think!  next issue in line was the HCM condition that Paul has. admittedly I was nervous as i am more aware of my heart and its machinations in my chest than most I talk to about it. Good news! no sign of HCM, but there's an  arrythmia, nothing to worry about says Jason. Yes-I !!after the considerable abuse, thank you body; "corps sain"!

Monday, 2nd April

Back to the slog. Days are getting awfully warm again. Summer is kicking in a little early I think.

I now have a large format printer in my office and it looks like a space ship. LOVE it!! will need some new shelving and catch basket for the prints...so call in the coolest carpenter...Barney, the Cool Carpenter! That's him there!...........>

I know I already told you about my illustartion challenge but that was premature as today I actually am a tad distracted at work thinking about my theme and how to illustarte it. I also will dash to pick up a new sketch pad for the project.
I am excited!!

Ted's cooking when I get home so I pour a wine settle at the breakfast counter and begin my illustration. it's somehow fitting that Teddy is the subject of my first illo. That's the lingo I picked up on the site. Hehehehe!

While watching the telly I work on and finish the illo.

I then recieve a telephone call from the fraud department of the Caribbean region for Master Card.
OH OH!! someone has been booking charter flights between Damascus, Istanbul and Beirut with my card. They are very polite and say they will kill the cards and issue new ones within 7 days. Must check with my card's bank branch tomorrow. trips sound interesting and would have been fabulous photo ops. too bad it wasn't me. all in all....this has been a BANANA-less day! *smile*..but..where's me bananas?!
it's why I live here isn't it?!

Saturday, March - 31

Miserable Nap Time - Ted is off for a real weekend. Rare enough to make it special. Lunching in town with Liz and her Dad Nick, we'll get to meet Bambi, Nick's wife. Cafe Bambula is closed!
Wtf. {5 BANANAS!!}

We end up at Hemingway's. I like it there, it reminds me of
those balcony places in New Orleans, eating and drinking overlooking the happenings on the street below. Dinner scheduled at Polly's tonight so we should grab a nap before dinner. Lunch was nice. I toss and turn and a few things zip around in my head.  The lack of family interaction hurts and (sip pints) disappoints me. Of course Mum died today, as I write. I get crankier and crankier as I am unable to sleep. I actually develop a headache not like me at all. I don't want to go to dinner by the time that rolls around, but decide to drag myself for Teddy's sake. His sisters still have his birthday gifts as they couldn't be bothered since 7th January because they never showed up for his birthday. Boy can they be selfish or maybe just inconsiderate. Dinner is actually really nice and I'm glad I decided to go. Then home again, home again, jiggerty jog!  I want to. (Hallenfe) challenge myself to (ion)
Illustration Friday and create an illustration, posted to my Flickr account every week. Commit commit!!!!
Michele gets cranky without a nap.
